If you already have all your Artworks stored in a spreadsheet or another platform and want to upload them all at once to ArtPlacer, this guide will walk you through the process.
We’ll use a CSV file to make the bulk upload simple and efficient, saving you valuable time compared to uploading each Artwork individually.
At the end of this article, you’ll also find a sample CSV file that you can check out here.

What is a CSV?
A CSV file (Comma-Separated Values) is a simple spreadsheet format that allows you to organize Artwork details (like title, artist, dimensions, etc.) in rows and columns.
By uploading a CSV file, you can import multiple Artworks into your ArtPlacer account simultaneously, saving time compared to adding them individually.
Initial Considerations
- The file formats accepted are: JPG, JPEG, PNG, WEBP.
- The number of files uploaded cannot exceed the allowance quota limit according to the plan that you are subscribed to. To see what is included in each plan, please follow this link.
- All required fields (Title, Artist, Width, Height, Image URL) must be filled in.
- No blank rows or merged cells are included in the file.
- Numbers should not include symbols (e.g., write
40
instead of40cm
). - File must be UTF-8 encoded.
A UTF-8 encoded file is simply a CSV file saved in a format that ensures all characters, such as accents, symbols, and special letters (like é, ñ, ü), are displayed correctly when imported into ArtPlacer.
You don’t need to worry about complex settings, most spreadsheet tools handle this for you:
- Google Sheets: When you download your spreadsheet as a CSV, it is automatically saved in UTF-8 format. File > Download > CSV
- Microsoft Excel: When saving, choose Save As > CSV UTF-8 (Comma delimited) to ensure the correct encoding.
Image Requirements
- The Image URL must be a public, direct link to the Artwork image (e.g., ending in
.jpg
or.png
). - Images should be at least 1200 px on the longest side for best results.
- The file size cannot exceed 40 megabytes.
- The image link must be a direct (URL) to your artwork image. A direct link means the URL should take you straight to the image itself, not to a webpage that contains the image.
Why do we need this?
ArtPlacer needs to automatically fetch your image from the internet and display it in your account. If the link points to a webpage instead of the image file, our system won’t be able to upload it.
To check if your link is correct: paste it into your browser. If you see only the image on your screen (no website around it), then it’s the right kind of link!
Required & Optional Fields
To ensure your Artworks upload correctly, your CSV should include at least the following required fields:
- Title – the Artwork’s name.
- Artist
- Width – numerical value only (in cm or inches, depending on your account settings).
- Height – numerical value only.
- Image URL – a direct link to the image file (JPG or PNG).
Optional fields you can include:
- Depth
- Year
- Medium
- Price
- Description
⚠ Important:
- Your CSV must be encoded in UTF-8 format.
- Use commas ( , ) as separators.
- Make sure your file includes column headers (titles of each field).
You can download a sample CSV template here. It is already correctly formatted; feel free to make a copy and use it.
