What is a CSV file?
A CSV file (Comma-Separated Values) is a simple spreadsheet format that allows you to organize Artwork details (like title, artist, dimensions, etc.) in rows and columns.
By uploading a CSV file, you can import multiple Artworks into your ArtPlacer account simultaneously, saving time compared to adding them individually.
Initial Considerations
- The number of files (rows on the spreadsheet) uploaded cannot exceed the allowance quota limit according to the plan that you are subscribed to. To see what is included in each plan, please follow this link.
Image/Artwork file Requirements:
- The Image URL must be a public, direct link to the Artwork image (e.g., ending in
.jpgor.png). - The file formats accepted are: JPG, JPEG or PNG.
- Images should be at least 1200 px on the longest side for best results.
- The file size cannot exceed 40 megabytes.
- The image link must be a direct (URL) to your artwork image. A direct link means the URL should take you straight to the image itself, not to a webpage that contains the image.
Why do we need this?
ArtPlacer needs to automatically fetch your image from the internet and display it in your account. If the link points to a webpage instead of the image file, our system won’t be able to upload it.
To check if your link is correct: paste it into your browser. If you see only the image on your screen (no website around it), then it’s the right kind of link!
CSV (Spreadsheet) Requirements:
- Columns Title, Artist, Width, Height, Image URL, are mandatory
- No blank rows or merged cells are included in the file.
- Numbers should not include symbols (e.g., write
40instead of40cm). - File must be UTF-8 encoded:
- Google Sheets: When you download your spreadsheet as a CSV, it is automatically saved in UTF-8 format. File > Download > CSV- Microsoft Excel: When saving, choose Save As > CSV UTF-8 (Comma delimited) to ensure the correct encoding.
Optional fields you can include:
- Depth
- Year
- Medium
- Price
- Description
